PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX BASED PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI CARRIERS FOR WLANLAN, ELAN, WAN, ALAN, KLAN, CLAN, FLAN, PLAN, WEAN CARDS

PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX chipsetchip set, chip-set, chirpiest, cheapest, chips, chicest, choppiest, chipped, hippest, chaplet, chest, hipster, Chip's, chip's, chirps, chops, Christ, chiefest, chillest, choicest, chaste, sharpest, shiest, ripest, chirped, chaps, ships, ship's (PLX PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI 9052) based PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI carriers available from a number
of manufacturers, for instance NetgearNet gear, Net-gear, Netter, Nectar, Neater, Neuter, Integer, Netters, Netta, Niger, Niter, Edgar, Edger, Natka, Nagger, Natter, Negate, Nigger, Nutter, Rutger, Hedger, Ledger, Netted, Nerte, Knitwear, Tiger, Neg, Net, Netta's make the MA301 [1] and BelkinBel kin, Bel-kin, Belgian, Balking, Bilking, Bulking, Welkin, Balkan, Bellina, Bellini, Belling, Berlin, Baulking, Beckon, Belting, Belying, Begin, Bulging
make another slightly cheaper adapter available from Harris Technology
[2] and likely elsewhere as well. The fundamental thing about these
carriers are that they map the PC-card registers into PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI address
space, they do not put your PC-cards on the end of a PCMCIAPARAMECIA, PECKISH, PUCKISH, PYGMIES, PAJAMA, PYJAMA, CAMACHO, PYGMY, PIGGISH, PIGMY'S, PYGMY'S, POCKMARK, PARKMAN, PAJAMAS, PYJAMAS, PAJAMA'S, PYJAMA'S bridge and
make them accessible with normal laptop drivers. This means that you
need to be careful about using combinations that are known good if you
want Windows support, and still need to apply due diligence if using
Linux or something other open source O/S.

slots, so I doubt PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI 2.2 support) that was running Linux.

This boxwasbox was, box-was, boxes, boxers, boxcars, box's, boxer's, boxwood, boxcar's, Bax's, Baxy's, Baxie's, boxwood's, boxing's based on RH7.2, so the following was required:

* grab the most recent driver from here [4] - I got 0.11, as the
kernel that ships with 7.2 is too old for PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX support.
* install the RedHatRed Hat, Red-Hat, Redhead, Reheat, Redact, Redcoat, Redheads, Reedit, Hardhat, Radiate, Readout, Redid, Redhead's [5] kernel-source RPM
* make menuconfig, make bzImageBismark, Bismarck, besiege, bedmaker, Bamako, bisque, smudge, besieger, besmear, busmen, Biscay, sumac, smog, smug, zymurgy, smack, smoke, submerge, Bismark's modules modules_install install (and
check /etc/lilo.conf to make sure that the new kernel is in fact going
to get booted. If you make changes, remember to run lilo again... of
course you might be using grub... in which case you edit
/etc/grub.conf, no need to run grub afterwards though).
* cdCD, Cd, CAD, COD, Cad, Cod, cad, cod, cud, DC, dc, CDC, CDT, cpd, CF, CID, Ced, Cf, Cid, Cs, VD, cf, cs, C, D, c, d, CT, Ct, Gd, JD, ct, LCD, CA, CO, Ca, Co, Cu, DD, ca, cc, ck, co, cu, cw, dd, yd, AD, Ad, CB /usr/src ; tar xzvfxciv, savvy, skivvy orinoco-0.11.tar.gz (although a web browser
or server had already uncompressed my file, so tar xvfxv, VF, xvi ....)
* cdCD, Cd, CAD, COD, Cad, Cod, cad, cod, cud, DC, dc, CDC, CDT, cpd, CF, CID, Ced, Cf, Cid, Cs, VD, cf, cs, C, D, c, d, CT, Ct, Gd, JD, ct, LCD, CA, CO, Ca, Co, Cu, DD, ca, cc, ck, co, cu, cw, dd, yd, AD, Ad, CB orinoco-0.11 and edit

* MakefileMake file, Make-file, Wakeful, Misfile, Mackerel, Makeover, Markedly, Manful, Mikel, Mugful, Wakefully, Pageful, Skiffle, Mayfly, Muffle, McNeil, Melville, Mikaela, Mikhail, McKinley, Maxillae, Murkily, Meekly, Marvell, Caviler, Muffler, Cavil and change CPPFLAGSCUPFULS, CUPFUL'S, CAMOUFLAGES, CORNFLAKES, CAMOUFLAGE'S, CAMOUFLAGERS, CAMOUFLAGER'S, KINFOLKS to include "-DMODVERSIONS -include
$(KERNEL_SRC)/include/linux/modversions.h", remembering to add a on
the prior line
* Because the kernel version is a crusty 2.4.7 you need to add a
couple of defines in orinoco.h as well (get the text to copy for this
from the edit box - otherwise the some of the preceedingpreceding, proceeding double
underlines get turned into bold...), just prior to the final (#endif)
line:

#define min(x,y) ()

#define max(x,y) ()

/* * ..and if you can't take the strict * types, you can specify one
yourself. * * Or not use min/max at all, of course. */ #define
min_t(type,x,y) () #define max_t(type,x,y) ()

* make ; make install

At this point you should be able to type 'modprobe orinoco_plx' and
voila! you have an ethernetEthernet, ether net, ether-net, eternity, Athene, ethane, otherness, Ethan, Thant, event, Ethelind, Athene's, ethane's, Athena, earned interface available for configuration.
Alternatively, change /etc/modules.conf to include the line

alias ethXEthe, ethic, ethos, Ethe's orinoco_plx
and you'll be able to use the normal
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX style configuration.

Currently in Linux the PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX adapters work with Orinoco compatible
cards. You will need the latest release of the Orinoco drivers from
http://ozlabs.org/people/dgibson/dldwd (0.11 as of writing).

Also, IntersilInters, Interpol, Interfile, Internal, Interval, Innersole, Intel, Utensil, Undersell, Enters, Intensely, Intercity, Inversely, Intel's Prism2.x based cards have PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX support too. Get the
latest drivers from http://www.linux-wlan.com The latest stable
version is 0.1.13.

Coming soon to a PCIPIC, CPI, CI, PI, PC, PSI, PCS, PEI, POI, SCI, MCI, XCI, PCB, PCP, PCT, PHI slot near you, PLXPX, PL, PLO, PLY, PBX, PIX, POX, PYX support for CiscoDisco, Crisco, Cuzco, Rosco, Fiasco, Wisc, Disc, Misc, Sicko, Circe, Cissy, Circa, Isacco, Soc, Sic, Scow, Xis, Isac, Civic, Sics, Moscow, Roscoe, SC, Sc, Sick, Cicero, Scissor, Sis, NSC, Assoc, Circus, Biscay, Cesaro, Miscue, Cece, Ceca, Fisk, Isak, Sacco, Cask, Cyst, Disk, Masc, Risk, Xi's, Zinc, Sask, Cesar, Sissy, Cigar, Ciggy, Sc's, Cy's, Si's, Cissy's, Circe's cards that
